Xcel to Fitness
Imagine you are Running in and out of hoops, propelling over hurdles, and slaloming between and around poles; moving closer and closer to the finish line. That’s just a typical Monday afternoon for some Sun Valley Elementary Spartan boys.
Xcel to Fitness has come to the Valley! The program created by former UCPS Physical Education teacher Stephan Vaughn, promotes the fundamentals of fitness while embedding character through teamwork, goal setting, and leadership for boys in third, fourth, and fifth grades.
“It helps me lose weight and it’s fun,” commented Dallas Brooks, a 5th grader who participates in the Xcel to Fitness program.
Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF
Sun Valley Elementary School will continue to help raise money for United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) this year by participating in "Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF." The main goal for this is to raise money for UNICEF to help with projects pertaining to child development and survival around the world. Finding self-sustaining clean water around the world is a necessity but many do not have this necessity. Money that is collected by the school will be donated directly to UNICEF. Last year, students in all grade levels helped with this global project by collecting $205.61. All boxes are due Monday, November 3, 2014.Full Story
