Sun Valley Elementary Food Drive
Sun Valley Elementary sponsored their 6th Annual Canned Food Drive to help make a difference. The drive began November 3rd and went until November 14th. The school asked comunity members donate nonperishable food and grocery items toward this effort.
Contributions were sent in by SunValley Elementary students. Classroom teachers collected materials and handed them off to SVES's School Counselor, Kinardi Burley.
The Kiwanis club of Monroe continued to help to facilitate this community project. The items will be donated to the Union County Christmas Bureau to help Union County families that are in need.
The students and family members were very involved and collected 1,771 items. We would like to congratulate Ms. Down's 3rd grade class for collecting 122 items and being in 1st place at SVES. Ms. Breed's 4th grade class collected 67 and came in 2nd place. Third place winners were Ms. Zalenski & Ms. Hoffman's 3rd grade classrooms for collecting 32 items. All students certainly helped make a difference in our community.Full Story
